INVITATION to „Cultural Orientation” workshop on 23.11.2023

Welcome Point invites all international (non-Polish) Students to CULTURAL ORIENTATION WORKSHOP on 23rd November (Thursday), 3.00 – 7.15 pm.

Global Environment and Development (MERGED)- admission start

The world faces unprecedented problems–natural resources are disappearing, global value chains supply unsustainable products, standard agricultural production systems are outdated, millions live in poverty, and the climate is changing for the worse. Do you want to contribute to solving these problems? Are you looking for a master’s programme combining theories with fieldwork?

Then the MSc programme in Global Environment and Development (MERGED) is your answer! This elite two-year European Mundus Joint Master Degree programme will enable you to handle today’s global challenges concerning the sustainable use of natural resources and developing new agricultural production systems. MERGED is a joint programme developed and implemented by universities in Denmark, Italy, and Poland.

The programme provides MERGED students with coordinated and direct access to high-quality teaching in Europe. And you can use the international research networks of the teaching staff to find topics and supervisors – when you decide on your thesis topic. The first year, all MERGED students are at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. Besides the many field trips in individual modules, there is a joint spring school where you carry out interdisciplinary fieldwork using the knowledge and tools acquired in the classrooms. In the second year, you choose between the specialisation in Sustainable Environmental Devel opment at the University of Warsaw in Poland and the specialization in Agricultural Development at the University of Milano in Italy.

Spotkanie Sojuszu 4EU+ w Mediolanie

7- 9 listopada, w Mediolanie, odbywa się coroczne spotkanie przedstawicieli uczelni członkowskich 4EU+. 

Sojusz 4EU+ tworzy osiem europejskich uczelni badawczych: Uniwersytet Warszawski, Uniwersytet Karola w Pradze, Uniwersytet w Heidelbergu, Uniwersytet Paris-Panthéon-Assas, Uniwersytet Sorboński, Uniwersytet Kopenhaski, Uniwersytet Genewski oraz Uniwersytet w Mediolanie. Trzydniowe wydarzenie oznacza również początek rocznej kadencji Uniwersytetu Mediolańskiego jako przewodniczącego Rady Zarządzającej Sojuszu.

Podczas sesji roboczych, w których wezmą udział rektorzy, prorektorzy, pracownicy naukowi i administracyjni, doktoranci i studenci uczestnicy podsumują swoją dotychczasową działalność i sformułują plany na przyszłość. Główne przemówienie pt. Re-envisioning our common future. The key role of European universities wygłosi prof. Maurizio Ferrera z Uniwersytetu w Mediolanie zaś jednym z haseł przyświecających całemu wydarzeniu jest: #BuildingBridges. Becoming One European University– co stanowi zapowiedź budowy jednego, europejskiego uniwersytetu.

Drugiego dnia Annual Meeting 4EU+ odbędzie się sesja otwarta (Open Session), którą będzie można obejrzeć online na kanale YouTube Sojuszu 4EU+

Rekrutacja do programu MOST

31 października rozpocznie się rekrutacja na semestr letni roku akademickiego 2023/2024!

MOST to program wymiany studentów i doktorantów, umożliwiający semestralny lub roczny pobyt na uczelni innej niż macierzysta. Kandydaci mogą wybierać spośród dwudziestu polskich uniwersytetów. Udział w programie jest bezpłatny.

Z wymiany mogą skorzystać studenci nie wcześniej niż po ukończeniu drugiego semestru studiów na studiach I stopnia i jednolitych magisterskich lub pierwszego semestru studiów na studiach II stopnia, a także doktoranci po ukończeniu pierwszego roku kształcenia w szkole doktorskiej.

Rekrutacja na semestr letni roku akademickiego 2023/2024 potrwa od 31 października do 30 listopada. Odbędzie się za pośrednictwem systemu IRK MOST

Warszaty: emPOWER Climate: Sustainability Talks

W dniu 27.10.2023 odbyły się warsztaty w ramach inicjatywy firmy Bayer „emPOWER Climate: Sustainability Talks”. Spotkanie poświęcone było tematyce odżywania w kontekście realizacji celów zrównoważonego rozwoju.

Ten ważny temat tegorocznych warsztatów: „Food and nutrition for health and climate” omawiany był w odniesieniu do następujących wyzwań związanych odżywaniem i produkcją żywności:

1. niedobory witamin i minerałów, nazywane „ukrytym głodem” dotykają niemal jedną na trzy osoby na świecie
2. produkcja większej ilości żywności dla wciąż rosnącej populacji – przy zmniejszających się zasobach – staje się ogromnym wyzwaniem
3. odpowiedzią na wyzwania klimatyczne jest rolnictwo regeneratywne i dekarbonizacja rolnictwa

Wśród zaproszonych gości byli eksperci: Kamil Wyszkowski, szef polskiego United Nations Global Compact, dr Joanna Gałązka z Polskiego Stowarzyszenia Ochrony Roślin, prof. Tymon Zieliński lider zespołu badania i edukacji w zakresie klimatu i oceanów w Instytucie Oceanologii Polskiej Akademii Nauk oraz eksperci związani z firmą Bayer. W warsztatach, które odbywały się w siedzibie Bayer, Warszawa wzięło udział ponad 100 studentów z różnych kierunków i uczelni w Polsce. Wśród nich znaleźli się studenci MSOŚ oraz SD, a także absolwenci kierunku SD. Naszym studentom towarzyszyły dyrektor UCBS- dr Mariola Zalewska i kierownik studiów Sustainable Development- dr Anna Batorczak.

BUP student conference: Environment and Well-being

This Sunday, 29 October, is the last day to apply to attend the BUP student conference: Environment and Well-being. All bachelor, master, and PhD students are welcome to apply to this event where you will be immersed in a range of activities including workshops, study visits, and lectures.

The student conference will take place between 6-9 December in Ostrava, Czech Republic. It will be based in this fascinating city as well as its surroundings.

The goal of the event is to:

  • Improve the knowledge of students around the key topics of this conference: Environment and Well-Being: a joint venture of technology, sciences, and humanities.
  • Promote and encourage stimulating discussions between students and staff members especially around the relevance of the topic for the everyday.
  • Discover and learn more about the city of Ostrava. Its historical context and current situation, as well as a Czech context on the highlighted topics.
  • Build skills in intercultural and interdisciplinary cooperation.

This student conference is organised by:
-The Baltic University Programme’s Coordinating Secretariat at Uppsala University, Sweden
-The Baltic University Programme’s National Centre in the Czech Republic at Ostrava University
-Ostrava University
-with contributions from all Czech universities within the BUP network. Including Czech Technical University in Prague and VSB-Technical University of Ostrava
