About the UCES&SD Library
The Library of the University Centre for Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development (UCES&SD) was created at the same time as UCES&SD; So he is over 27 years old. In the library system of the University of Warsaw is one of the smallest library facilities, but with a very rich thematic bookstore on the broadly understood natural environment and sustainable development. Participation in international projects and international contacts maintained by UCES&SD and its staff, especially by the long-term director Dr. Anna Kalinowska, contribute to the fact that alongside the rich academic and popular scientific literature published in the Polish language, UCES&SD also has a rich foreign book collection, mainly in English.
As of mid-2017, the UCES&SD Library collections were around 2,000. book titles. Due to the specifics of many distributed publications, primarily concerning ecological education (including trade press and unpublished publications), the actual size of UCES&SD library collections exceeds roughly 2,000. titles.
UCES&SD collections are collected in a dozen thematic sections, including ecology, environmental education, environmental economics and management, environmental engineering, environmental pollution, nature conservation, medicine and health care, geology, geography, law and administration, philosophy, sociology politics, statistics, general problems, dictionaries and albums.
Special collections of UCES&SD Libraries also hold master’s, thesis and bachelor’s degrees (933 in total), which are protected by the University of Warsaw as part of Interdisciplinary Studies in Environmental Protection.
The functioning of the UCES&SD Library, the collection of collections, etc. is in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Librarian and Information Worker adopted in 2005 by the Central Board of the Association of Polish Librarians.
